akron christian reformed church

Sunday worship at 10:30am

The worship of our God is at the heart of who we are. It defines us. It organizes us. It is our reason for being gathered together. Our sanctuary of grace is a place of worship, prayer, refuge and inspiration.

We are a community of grace, called by the Holy Spirit to participate in God’s redemptive work. As the body of Christ we learn, grow, and worship together, and reflect the love of Jesus Christ into the lives of the people who surround us.

mission

Scripture tells us that music is used to praise, show gratitude, teach, and tell of God’s work in our lives. Our music starts with a breath that invites the Holy Spirit to move in our hearts. We value music because it engages our whole being in a way that the spoken word does not. We value music of all styles and honor each person’s joyful noise to the Lord.

Liturgical art offers a thought-provoking visual aid for worship, inviting the viewer to enter into the liturgical season and see its realities and themes from a different perspective.

We believe that youth are part of God’s covenant family. We meet them where they are and provide a safe space for them to enjoy fellowship and to learn to love Jesus through prayer, study, service, and worship.

As a community of grace we seek, with the Holy Spirit’s help, to humbly care and pray for the marginalized in our community, and to serve others as God calls us to be faithful. We promote peace, deflect judgment, and welcome all that enter into this church and our lives.

outreach

As we pursue intentional relationships with God and one another, we share our lives so that together we grow in our knowledge of God, cultivate our new life in Christ, and serve as agents of God's love and grace.

discipleship

We believe that worship is shaped by God’s love and grace. Worship includes words, music, art, and our collective experience as the Holy Spirit blows among us. Liturgy allows the words to soak into our brains and hearts like rain on the soil or rhythms of a poem or song.
